As some of you remember i recently had some questions about chicken recipes. I'm proud to say i have made many of the recipes and i have almost gotten over my fear of raw chicken. The thing is though that my (live) chickens are molting and going a little crazy right now and when i look at their little bald spots they look JUST LIKE CHICKEN!! OMG.
Tonight i am trying chair's chicken recipe with a little twist; i diced the chicken before putting it in the marinade and i plan on sauteing it with some garlic and olive oil and tossing it with linguine and serving it with feta on top and sauteed zucchini on the side. That should go over GREAT with the kids!
For dessert? A side of sour grapes.
I have noticed recently that lots of bloggers are getting jobs writing on other blogs. LOTS of other blogs. (I must be twitchy today what with all the CAPS) Now i am happy that these women are making money doing what they love and providing an income for their families. All that stuff? Awesome.
But, i keep looking for posts, actual posts on blogs, and get redirected to other blogs. My mind? It is weak and tired. I can't keep track of all the blogs and who writes where and which jen is this anyway? Can't they get paid to write their own blogs? Why have seven blogs when you can have just one? You hear that big corporate companies cashing on blogging talent! I want to read the same old blogs with the same old writers and have them get paid to do that! I don't want to be tracked and clocked and become part of the corporate machine.

I’ve been MIA for a while. I feel the same way. I’m happy for them, but I like my little corner of the world just the way it is. I guess I fear change :)
Jess, glad you you are feeling better. I too, while feeling happy for bloggers who are getting some more gigs and more dough..it’s hard & really complicated…to make sense of some of these turns, in some ways more complicated in terms of popularity than I the Class of ’85. Dunno…

Sadly, because of the companies wanting content on their very own sites, there’s no way they’d let their paid content sit on a domain owned by the average blogger. Only superstars like, say, Andrew Sullivan get paid to write on their own blog…and even his domain gets redirected. I would think that Dooce is about the only one who could get that sort of deal.
I’ve been thinking about this very same thing lately. You articulated my feelings really well. (And the “jen” comment was very funny!)
I feel the same way. These big corporate blogs are a little like Walmart. Or the mall. There was more variety and spirit when we could still shop at individual stores downtown.
The corporate blogs all feel the same ? sterile. And although I’m happy for the bloggers, that they can provide a little income for their families and get paid to do what they love, I feel that it detracts from the unique and quirky quality of the individual blogs.
Clearly people aren’t going to get paid to write their own blogs (most of us anyway) but the way that these corporate blogs are changing the face of blogging, at this point, doesn’t seem positive.
I just posted about this, and I feel the same way. Glad money is coming to bloggers though, even if it’s not coming to me.
I’ve noticed the same thing about bloggers and new writing gigs. Clearly they have connections that I lack. I’m glad for them but sad for me.

I think Club Mom must have grabbed up about 5-6 blogs I read. I REALLY wonder how much they are paying though??
I think it’s really hard to comment or post about this without sounding bitter and jealous. I agree with you. I’m waiting anxiously to see who was chosen for these new corporate blogs – I am looking forward to see how various Moms are represented.
I got an email from Club Mom about the positions and was going to apply – I tried to become a Club Mom member, but it wasn’t open to Canadians. Bummer. Is there such thing as a Canadian collaboration blog? Canadian Moms have a really cool perspective, drink alot of beer and say “eh!” alot. Like that.
lol…I wish someone would pay me to keep writing my own blog.
I always think about how hard it must be to come up with material for all their different gigs. I have enough trouble with just the one.
