in bad days

spring has sprung
I know, i know, reading posts about sicks families is boring. I'm yawning already.
Seriously though every spring! Every fucking spring we get sick just right at that moment where you pop your hand out the door, feel warm sunshine, push your winter boots aside and put on the flip flops. Right then. Right as i step my pale foot out the door the flu bug attacks.
Tristan is on the mend and on antibiotics, toby came down with it last night at 3am and cried from then until we put him back to bed at 7pm tonight, parker is hacking and weezing upstairs with shane right now so that i can have a few minutes of peace before i head back in. Eliza, officially first in line for the good stuff in the will, is still healthy – but on mucho steroids as a prophylactic.
I predict very little sleep tonight and the hospital with parker sometime in the next 48 hours.
sigh
I was supposed to go on a mothers weekend away in tofino this weekend. Up in smoke that one. It's okay though as i was having mild to moderate anxiety just thinking about a trip with 12 ladies and no getaway plan.
And seriously fevers of 103? That's pretty darn high right?

103 seems pretty serious. to me anyhow… my one and only is sick, it must be really difficult with more. at least charlotte can only whine in a few words. poor dear.
healthy thoughts for the troops.

Yeah, 103 is pretty high. If it gets any higher I’d get quite concerned.
YUCK. I hope you’re all feeling better soon. Sick sucks.

Chantal April 7, 2006 at 5:57 am

Yeah, 103 would freak me out.
Being sick sucks. No sleep sucks. Worrying about your kids sucks even harder.

Sabrina April 7, 2006 at 6:55 am

Yeah that is pretty high. I hope lots of Tylenol and cold wash clothes get that to go down, if not I’d be going to the Dr. We are ALWAYS sick here so you’re not alone. My son had stomach flu again earlier this week. That must be his 10th time in a year. LOL

Yep, 103 is high. But I wouldn’t panic until it reaches 104. Then I’d be packing them up and going to search for a doctor. Spring germs suck. I say this as I am picking my nose boogers. Just thought I’d share. Too bad about your trip. But alone with 12 ladies? That’s a lot of estrogen. Perhaps you will be able to reschedule soon. Good luck. Hope everyone has a speedy recovery soon!

Feel better all. Hope you don’t end up in hospital. My 2yo was sick yesterday (stomach flu) He’s just getting over it today. So I’m off to didinfect our entire house and do 6 loads of laundry.

That sign rocks.
I’ll try wishing you a good weekend. You and your family, that’s way too many sick people. I seriously hope it’s on the mend.

Kim April 7, 2006 at 8:33 am

104 is concerning, 104 is hospital time.
I feel your pain though Jess – it seems like just as one gets better another one gets the bug in a never-ending circle of germ sharing.

Kim April 7, 2006 at 8:37 am

*sigh* 103 is concerning, 104 is hospital time.
(I need coffee)

marian April 7, 2006 at 9:03 am

Well, I had a doctor tell me once that 105 was the cutoff point, if they were still drinking and playing a bit. If they are lethargic and not drinking, it’s ER time.
Ugh. You poor thing. It does seem like everyone on the internet is sick! Good thing we can’t cough on each other.
Hope this weekend finds you on the mend.

Hope everyone is feeling better. Seriously Jess, if all the fevers are better tommorrow, than Shane can handle all the nose blowing for one night! One night! Escape plan is already in effect for the next morning. I hope to see your sniffling, raw nosed face on the beach tommorrow night. We’ll cure you the old fashioned way, with lots of booze.

jennifer April 7, 2006 at 10:24 am

oh no! i hope everyone feels better soon…

wordgirl April 7, 2006 at 10:52 am

Sending big hugs your way. What you need is some chicken soup!

I will not give advice about 104 temps, but I will say that I am JEALOUS that you are close enough to go to Tofino for a weekend.
My husband and I went there last fall and fell in love with the damn place. Hope to go back this August.
*sigh*
I love Vancouver Island.

blackbird April 7, 2006 at 5:34 pm

yeah.
but if you think you are stealing my thunder with the sick-kid thing this week, you are sadly mistaken.
I win the prize. so. just get them healthy.
(seriously? I hope everyone mends quickly.)

jess April 8, 2006 at 10:03 am

Apparently, 103 is high. But really worry at 104, or if your child has a history of seizures. Also, the febrile seizure happens when the temp. plummets after giving tylenol or ibuprofen.
There is no escape for me!
