in breastfeeding

Since i weaned parker he sleeps through the night.
ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!~ oh i crack me up!
Since i weaned parker he wakes up every 20 minutes screaming for me. And then he takes forever to get back to sleep. Grey's Anatomy was a total bust last night. Such a bummer.
He's also very constipated. Yesterday i felt as though he was channeling his inner leta armstrong as i had to, literally, pull a giant hard as a rock poo from my babies little sore bum. He was screaming and crying and asking to go to the doctor.
I gave him lots of fruit and veggies yesterday, but i need help! I'm hoping he'll sleep better when his gut feels better.
How do you cure extreme constipation in a two year old?

dried plums? If he hates them, maybe letting a couple of them soak overnight in a little water and mixing this water the following morning with his regular juice/milk.
I hope he gets better.

Bran muffins with wheat bran, not oat bran, and raisins. Also, since he’s stopped nursing he’s probably ingesting a whole lot less fluid than usual. So increasing his fluid intake (juices are best for this) will help…. bottle, sippy cup, whatever. Good luck.

A small amount of lactulose syrup (OTC in most pharmacies)mixed in with forumula or juice is what my doctor recommended for my son when he was a babe and constipated.

my girls suffer if they drink too much cow’s milk or take gummy bear vitamins (even without the iron)
good luck!

Aww! Poor baby! You really DO understand! As you’ve read now, I go straight for the tiny glycerin drops rectally in the extreme situations. Poor darlings, all of you. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Lactulose. Softens the stool and is safe for the babe. Tastes like candy so he should love it.

Apple juice always works for me.

Theya gets dried prunes (stewed then pureed then frozen in batches and thawed when needed) mixed into yogurt to keep her going. And a blend of finely ground seeds/nuts mixed into her breakfast cereal -it started as a nutritional thing but when we run out she seems to get a little conpistated so it keeps her plumbing working, too.

Call your dr and ask about Miralax. My daughter has been on it forever. You take alittle and mix it in their juice, milk, water and it disolves. It works wonders and it’s the only way we got her potty trained because before it hurt to go she just wouldn’t and would hold it forever. Another perk is it doesn’t make it loose, just soft. Get it! You won’t be disappointed I promise!

I second Sabrina on the Miralax! The stuff works “gentle” miracles! I recommend mixing it with OJ. I tried mixing it with apple juice and while it’s tasteless – my son was able to see the tiny little particles floating around and promptly called them into question. Good luck!
