in the husband

My husband is the lamest, most unromantic man in the world. After reading all your posts about the lavish displays of affection bestowed on you by your perfect spouses i started to get my hopes up that maybe shane would come through. After all i bought him these:

He came through with NOTHING!
I should have known. It's not that i really care, or expected more. But really, nothing?
Last night he offered up a massage and nothing!
Parker wouldn't let me watch tv for more than a few minutes in between his wakeups so i gave up around 11:00pm and went to bed.
I spent the night kicking shane every time he snored, taking out a little of my frustration. Today, i will think up some devious payback scheme because that's what i do: seek revenge.

oh Jess! my husband is just like that too! now I tell him exactly what I want from which store on what occasion. otherwise he’ll forget and come with nothing too!
revenge? hm… my advice… stop cooking for him for about 2 days forcing him to buy take-outs or take you out for dinner. ;)

Hmm.. If HE won’t indulge you and spoil you, clearly you need to do it for yourself. Purchase something lacy and sexy and unspeakably arousing and spend an evening enjoying the goods on your own. If he’s nice, he can watch. ;)
Or, if you prefer something rated PG instead, tell him that you’re really sorry he won’t be getting anything on March 14th (http://www.steakandbjday.com/).. Hmm!

I SO remember that song (Modern English) and love it, too. I hate it that your gesture wasn’t reciprocated.

Or, you could scrub the toilet with his toothbrush.

As the offender in a similar marital arrangement, I’m begging on Shane’s behalf for clemency. The best thing that Alex has done to “help” me be more like him in that regard is to model the behavior. When I see how thoughtful his efforts are, it really does make me want to try harder.
I’m getting better at it…maybe Shane will, too? And people show their love in different ways (surely you’ve read that 5 love languages book? It’s great). Maybe Shane’s workaholism is, in his mind, an act of service that demonstrates his love for his family. He can learn to redistribute his efforts, I bet.

I really don’t understand all this revenge. Some of these guys don’t seem to be trying to hurt you so why hurt them. It seem more evil to me than anything.

JenB good call, revenge is silly. Educate your man. If he loves you he’ll try to come through.
